when you stand on firm ground
remember water flows beneath you
when this and that mix
you get beautiful blue
when you lovingly feed someone
remember you may get hurt
the kind and cruel
are nurtured by earth
i think i know
why the wise ones say
nothing stays the same
tomorrow and today
senseless violence
searing pain
everything will be washed away
like golden motes in the grey rain

I like the contrasting and harmonising tones with the balance in this piece, Sobhana. It can be hard to find an equilibrium in our turbulent world with all its senseless acts. I sometimes wonder whether there is any hope for us. It’s been raining quite a bit here, and, as you say, one can only hope that our collective sins will somehow be washed away.

Thank you, Steve. Glad you liked this poem. In these turbulent times, balance would be nice. Stay well.
